I show Tennessee Walking horses about eight months out of each year. In 2001 I won at the National Celebration in the youth class. The National Celebration is the largest show for Tennessee Walkers, and is the most prestigious honor to this horse circuit! My family and I enjoy participating in these shows as well as many other activities together. My parents and I, as well as my grandparents attend Bethpage Presbyterian Church. I have been on the "A" honor roll majority of my school career, and have been on student council the past three years. I also enjoy reading and writing.

CONTESTS! | WHAT 9-11 MADE ME REALIZE September eleventh struck close to home with me, because so many lives were lost. What it made me realize was that you should not take things for granted, because you never know when you may lose them. It also struck me that you should remember to tell your friends and family how much they mean to you. September eleventh also brought up that you never know what to expect in life, and what may come your way. As you can see, some very touching experiences were brought up on that day. When I first heard about the planes crashing into the World Trade Centers, an overwhelming amount of sadness came over me. I realized that many people would never get to see their mother, father, or even their children again. It also told me that you should not take anything for granted, because you never know when you will loose it. Not only lives were lost on September eleventh. The feeling of peace and contentment were also lost too. Although there were no acts of terrorism near my home just seeing the horror and sadness of the victims or their families was bad enough. As the old saying goes, you don't know what you have got until you loose it. September eleventh was a prime example of this. Whether you were in one of the attacks, knew someone who was a victim, or were just saddened by the whole event you lost something. As I stated before, it was not only lives that were lost in the attack, but the loss of peace. September eleventh should have made everyone wake up and not take anything for granted. September eleventh also made me realize that even though we may become annoyed at our friends and families sometimes we should always let them know how much they mean to us. Many people will not be able to tell their friends and family that they love them again. I want to make sure before anything happens that my family and friends know how much they mean to me. I know how upsetting it must have been for families of those who passed away during the attacks. After seeing what happened it made me aware that I always need to take time and smell the roses, as many people have said. In other words you are never too busy to call and talk to friends and family. People that you care about don't need an appointment to talk to you. You should always be available to them, because that day will come when they can't say hello. Friends and family are the best, because without them then we have nothing else! Having to go through every day without any family or friends would be lonely, that's why we should always let them know how much we appreciate them. The one thing that September eleventh made me realize, and others should, is that you never know what to expect in life. You can't count on anything and should always be prepared for anything to come your way. Americans never dreamed of having another terrorist attack and that is exactly how the terrorists caught us offguard. No matter what everyday life may bring us, you always need to be prepared for the worst. Life is too short, so don't go and worry about what may come without us knowing, but go into each and every day prepared for anything. The attacks of September eleventh may have caught us offguard, but we recovered. This is how we can take the challenge and live life the way it ought to be lived! September the eleventh was a tragic day, and will never be forgotten. If anything good was to come out of that day, it would be that it made people wake up to the real world. It also made me realize not to take anything for granted. Also, that no matter how busy you are that you should always take time for family and friends. Finally, you never know what to expect in life, but you shouldn't go around worrying about what is to come. As you can see September the eleventh was a tragic day that will never be forgotten.
