"My children are far too young (15 mos & 5 mos) to understand the magnitude of your efforts. This is a war they will someday read about in their History books. I can promise you that it will never be history in our household. Your sacrifices will long be remembered and honored. What you are doing today will ring strong in our hearts forever. Thank you!! Hurry home. We Love you!!!"--Brandy, Bradenton, FL 34207

"I want to send a message to the troops; that I support what you are doing, and that I respect your bravery and courage... I look forward to the day of your return home after a job well done. As the wife of a former USMC captain, a special "hoo-ra" and Semper Fidelis to the USMC. I truly understand and respect that you and those who came before are responsible for the freedoms we enjoy today. We will keep the home fires burning and we anticipate a joyous celebration upon your return.
GOD BLESS THE USA,"

REPORT FROM ORLANDO
by Cynthia McClendon

March 29,2003--My husband and I just came from a Support Your Troops rally sponsored by our local radio station 540 AM WFLA at the Harley Davidson store not too far from our home.

We just happened to hear about it while doing our usual Saturday morning running around and went on the spur of the moment. So did a gazillion other people. It was amazing! Churches allowed the crowd (and it WAS a crowd!) to use their parking lots, there was a free shuttle, the police looked absolutely bored because everyone was so well-behaved. The crowd was respectful, trash was put in cans. We all signed a huge banner for POW David Williams whose family lives here and let me tell you, it was tough to find a spot that wasn't covered on this gigantic banner.

All branches of the service were well represented, though I must say the Marine Corps flags were the biggest ones.

There were little old ladies, big, bad bikers, cub scouts, boy scouts, teenagers, Viet Nam vets, Desert Storm vets, British flags waving right alongside ours since many British families have vacation homes in our area. They support our troops and we support theirs.

Many local restaurants came out and served free food, free cotton candy, water, even the dogs were in red, white and blue! (Special favorite was the afghan hound)

Many families brought pictures of their sons "over there." I wish I had written down the signs - they were witty and to the point - and they were spelled correctly!

One particular favorite spotted on the news tonight was a group across the street from a group of anti-war protesters. Their sign said 'Honk if you think anti-war protestors are idiots!" You could barely hear the reporter for the honking! An interesting note, there were not as many anti-war people out this week as there was last week, the reporter said. Maybe some of them are getting it!

A Navy mom spoke whose son is part of a B-52 crew (and when he called she told him about the rally. He said "There's a rally for us?" He said all he had heard was anti-war stuff, picketers outside their gates and it was pretty discouraging.

So all of you spread the word all over the world - there was a rally for all of our troops today and it kicked you know what! The feeling was indescribable, the pride, the tears, the love, the courage, all services, all ages, all economic groups united in love and support of our brave men and women everywhere.

It was especially great to see the huge number of Viet Nam vets there and to be able to tell them thank you. They came home to not a great reception and they are bound and determined that is not going to happen to our men and women who serve now.

This whole thing was put by volunteers in 4 days. 4 days!

People do care. They care deeply and they're not afraid to show it. Let's spread the word everywhere - We love you, we support you, kick butt and come home soon!
