Barb Watson, of Brocton, Illinois, sends us this picture of her 21 year old son,Cpl. Christopher Watson,kissing his wife, Heather, good bye before deploying February 12, 2003. Chris, who has been a Marine for 3 years, has the job of loading bombs and other ordnance onto F-18 fighters.

"He was on an aircraft carrier in Afghanistan and his squadron was the squadron of the year last year," Barb Watson says in April, 2003. "Now he is ...near Kuwait City.

He says he is doing OK and that they have loaded 1 million pounds of ordnance up until (April 8)."

Mrs. Watson admits, "I am scared and worried as a mother," but she is quick to add that she is very proud of her son. She says she wishes there would be a rally for "all of the troops throughout the world."

"They need to know that we are behind them. These guys have volunteered to do what they do and are very proud of our freedom here in America," says Barb Watson.
