"Before my son enlisted in the Marines, both his father and I had alot of concerns. We talked, he talked. I listened. From this I sat one day and took his many words and formed them into this poem. He (let me know he) was proud of what I said thru a poem to him.

A SONS COMFORT

Dad don't worry
Mom don't cry
I'm a Marine now
Don't worry that I'll die.
You raised me up right
so know that I'm strong.
Please have faith now,
Know that I'm not wrong.
I have this plan,
Please tell me you see,
To succeed in this
And make you proud of me.
I do this also for me.
I need pride as well
Its not my intention
to put you thru hell.
So please don't be worried
And please don't cry
Put on a smile
And dry your eye.
Four years will pass
Then you will see
I made the right choices
You'll be proud of me.
Now I want to leave you both
Happy and serene
And proud in your hearts
Your son's a US Marine!
