To the military,
It has been said that the military is vital to our nation's survival. It has been
said that America appreciates its military, but what does it really mean to say that
the military defends America?
It is because of the military that I wake up here in Freeland, Pennsylvania,
(Smalltown-America) and feel proud and unafraid. It is because of you that I can go
to school, free to express my opinion and challenge popular ideas. It is because of
you that I can proclaim that I am an American, and there is nothing to hide. I can
come home to a safe environment, free of the horrors of war because of you. I go to
sleep each night, assured of the freedoms that were promised me, oh, so long ago.
But on this night, I will drift to sleep knowing that my military is protecting me.
